Kalgoorlie-Boulder is fascinating all year, but September brings the annual ‘Discover the Round’ – a weeklong festival for the whole family, with loads of fun games, horse racing and entertainment. The festival attracts crowds of around 15,000 each year.
September is also the start of the beautiful Western Australia Wildflower season.
If you love big toys then make sure you’re in Kalg for the St Barbara’s Festival in December. There is loads of entertainment with the main show put on by KCGM who drive their MASSIVE haul trucks down the main street of Kalgoorlie followed by a parade of entertainment and great Kalgoorlie – Boulder spirit.
The city’s weather is exceptional throughout most of the year, which allows both residents and tourists plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the great outdoors.
If you want to try something a bit different, consider exploring one of the ghost towns to the north of Kalgoorlie, or venture out along the 965km Golden Quest Discovery Trail. You can purchase a guidebook and CDs from the Finders Keepers shop which will give you a full do-it-yourself tour, taking about a week to drive, or you could break it into smaller driving tours.
So c’mon and experience the Gold ‘n’ Outback.
